Fluted Interior Doors

Texture That Catches the Light

A fluted door has a series of vertical grooves milled into the leaf. In daylight the grooves throw thin shadows and the door gains depth without any added colour or ornament. It is the detail that made fluted glass, fluted wall panels and fluted furniture so popular, applied to the door itself, and it works equally well in a modern condo and in a house with classic trim.

Fluted Doors in Our Range

  • Astori B1 fluted. A flat leaf with fluting across the whole surface.
  • Astori D collection. Painted leaves with a milled pattern, 40 mm standard or 52 mm rebated.
  • Astori M collection. Tinted veneer with milled lines, so the grooves show wood texture.
  • Dooris FR collection. Milled designs on an MDF core in matte RAL or NCS paint; the AL versions add aluminum details.

Where Fluted Doors Work Best

  • Pantry and closet doors, where texture turns a utility door into a feature. See pantry doors.
  • Bedrooms, painted the same colour as the wall for a subtle, tonal effect.
  • Hallways with several doors, where the fluting gives rhythm.
  • With fluted glass or wall panels nearby, so the motif repeats. Explore glass doors and wall panels.

Colour and Fluting

Fluting is strongest in a single matte colour: the shadows do the work. White and light colours show it softly; dark greys and black make it graphic; veneer adds grain to the grooves. Painted fluted doors are available in any RAL or NCS colour.

Care

Dust collects in grooves faster than on a flat leaf. A soft brush or a microfibre cloth run along the flutes keeps them clean; avoid soaking the surface.

Sizes and Ordering

Fluted doors are made in widths from 24" to 36" and in 80", 84" and 96" heights on most models. Flute depth and spacing look different in person than in photos, so see them before ordering. Our showroom is at IMPROVE Canada, Store #396-398, 7250 Keele Street, Vaughan, and doors are delivered and installed across Toronto and the GTA.

FAQ

Are fluted doors a trend that will date?

Fluting has been used in architecture for centuries. In a calm colour it reads as a texture rather than a trend.

Can fluted doors be painted any colour?

Yes, painted models come in any RAL or NCS colour.

Are fluted doors hard to clean?

Slightly more than flat doors. A soft brush along the grooves is enough.
